April 24 – 28

April 24,   Planted Basil, Oregano, Thyme, Calendula, Zinnias, Spinach, and head Lettuce.  Planted Swiss Chard in totes out in the greenhouse.  Below are photos of how those greens and radishes are growing.  You can see the five gallon buckets full of compost in the back ground, we filled them all up in preparation for the tomatoes.

Another project we started: clearing away the trees that surrounded our very old Apple trees.  We opened it up so they can get much more sunlight.  We are trying to be very diligent about all our fruit tree care, it is our goal to finally get some decent fruit off of them this year.

Below is another progress photo of the tomatoes and eggplants growing upstairs in the house.

April 26,   Today marks the first time the wood splitter has been started this year!  Finally getting somewhere with filling all our firewood orders.  We will be out straight from now until probably December!

And, an update on how the lanolin extraction process turned out.  The photo below shows the couple of Tablespoons I extracted from about half of a fleece.  It is the layer between the olive oil on top and water on the bottom, this is how you purify it so it doesn’t have so much dirt and sheep smell.
